FAQ
  • In order to reach the widest number of people, we are offering to run short workshop presentations to groups of staff in the workplace, or at local community or social groups.  A short presentation will last around 15 minutes then there will be the opportunity to speak to an adviser immediately afterwards or make appointments for longer personalised conversations.

  • If you think this service is something your employees would benefit from you should contact Jade our Energy Advisor. Jade will then arrange a suitable time to your place of work or social gathering,  (e.g. pre or post shift, lunch break, even maybe an evening or a weekend.)

  • No. Our support is available to customers of both British Gas and all other energy suppliers. The only requirement is that you are a resident of Doncaster.

  • The presentation would last approximately 15 minutes, and Jade would stay around afterwards for as long as needed to make referrals for private appointments and offer 1:1 advice.

  • NO. There is no cost to your company, both ourselves and Citizens Advice are registered charities, and non-profit businesses.

  • The scheme offers people the opportunity to speak with a trained Energy Advisor for up to one hour. You will meet and talk confidentially about your financial situation and discuss a range of options including help and advice with fuel costs as well as any other financial difficulty they may be experiencing. Other services may include;

    • Benefit/income maximisation checks

    • Budget planning

    • Resolution of energy debt problems

    • Negotiating with energy suppliers

    • Completing grant applications to British Gas Energy Trust and other helpful schemes, e.g. Warm Home Discount and ECO schemes and energy companies’ Priority Services Registers

    • Desktop Home Energy Efficiency Surveys and specific energy efficiency advice

    • Generalist advice on subjects including housing, employment and discrimination, helping to overcome other barriers to financial well-being.

  • A range of support is available.  We can help ensure you are fuel efficient, help resolve energy debt issues, and advise on how to maximise income in these unprecedented, difficult times.

  • Our project, unlike many others,  is primarily, but not exclusively,  offering help and advice to that 'in-work’ who may be suffering hardship for the first time in their lives, or who may have never sought advice previously.

  • Please email Jade@voluntaryactiondoncaster.org.uk  to discuss a time and date for your appointment.
